Imaging

A lot of emphasis is laid on diagnostic and prognostic evaluations in the modern-day clinical medicine. This may be obtained through non-invasive investigations only. The year (2005 – 2006) has been very eventful for the department of imaging at the Brahma kumari's Global hospital. Computerized Radiology (CR) system, was installed in the Department of Imaging in May 2005. The suave CR system significantly improves and speeds up radiology imaging which significantly saves time both for the patients and the doctors as well. The results of the diagnosis can be obtained quickly. USG is digitalised. The patients are now given a digital film with multiple (15-24) images.. Films of different sizes are available and patients may choose and request the film size they need. We have linked the CR system to the ICCU through the intranet.

A Colour Doppler ultrasonogaphy machine was installed in May 2006, to meet the growing demands. This machine facilitates the evaluation of the blood vessels in the human body.

Certain other investigative facilities offered by radiology and imaging department of Brahma kumari's Global hospital include:

Digital Radiology

We have 300 mA dual tube machine from GE, equipped with an image intensifier. All routine radiographs, and special procedures like barium studies, urographic studies, HSG, sinography are performed with ease and precision on this machine. Interventional procedures under image-intensifier control are also performed.

Trained technical staff is available 24/7.

Ultrasonography

Ultrasonography is a very important technique. It is used extensively in most specialties. It is mandatory in Obstetrics Gynecology, Medicine, Surgery, Cardiology and Ophthalmology.

Ultrasonography is considered to be very safe for foetus, as there is no inonisingradiation. Hence, it has become the touchstone in diagnosing the status of the foetus.

Brahma kumari's Global hospital is equipped with the latest high frequency, broadband, (multi-frequency) probes which is used to perform musculoskeletal studies. It is even used successfully in small part studies of thyroid, breast, and testes. We also provide tran rectal, transvaginal sonography and also perform Real time ultrasound guided biopsies.

Whole Body Colour Doppler

The hospital has introduced a new service for Whole Body Colour Doppler & Colour Doppler Echocardiography. Siemens G-60 state- of-the-art, high resolution, multi-function Colour Doppler Machine are also installed. This machine is utilized by the Department of Cardiography and Department of Radiology.

For appointments, contact the EHC Reception on the 2nd Floor: +91 (0) 22 66487500 extn. 568/569).

Doppler Studies offered are

  • Carotid Doppler
  • Portal System
  • Venous system
  • Obstetrics or Gynaecology
  • Renal Doppler
  • Arterial system
  • Small parts: Scrotal/Thyroid/Breast
  • 2-D Echo Colour Doppler

Mammography

Breast cancer nowadays, is very common cancer in women. Woman can be completely cured of breast cancer if diagnosed early. Screening mammography supplemented by sonomammography can detect the small lesions, before they palpate. Women above the age of 40 and especially with familial history must undergo mammography at regular intervals.

The Brahma kumari's Global hospital is equipped with GE Senographe 700-T, which uses low radiation dose. We provide the patients with female technicians as well. Adequate privacy is provided to the patient. Sonomammography is done on patients opting standard package.

Orthopentomogram

An orthopantomogram is an X-ray image of your whole mouth, including your upper and lower jaw and teeth. The X-ray machine moves around your head while taking the images. This provides a complete ear to ear image of your mouth and teeth. It is used to look at impacted wisdom tooth to help find the cause of dental pain view the position of dental implants help assess teeth for orthodontic treatments.

CT scan

CT scan is the most preferred choice for head and spinal trauma, abdominal pathologies, lung parenchymal pathologies, paranasal sinuses and the temporal bone infections. CT scans are cost effective and dependable studies to patients.. It is used for cerebrovascular accidents, mediastinal pathologies and follow-up examinations. We have multi-slice SPIRAL ultrafast CT scanner. It works faster, and provides better images. It takes only 8 seconds for scanning the brain. An abdominal scan takes not more than 12 seconds.

CT Scan can also perform special functions like angiographies, virtual endoscopies (bronchoscopies, colonoscopies etc.,) and 3D reconstructions. Facilities like Multiplanar reconstructions, CT urography, CT myelography are also available at the hospital. We perform CT guided interventional procedures.

The CT scan facility is available on emergency basis for 24 hours.

Endoscopy Services

Endoscopic services are available in the operation theatre complex located on the third floor of the hospital. It is a highly advanced video endoscopy system.

Endoscopy is the examination of the internal body organs by means of small diameter flexible tubes called endoscopes. The tip of the endoscope has a small camera like device which takes live images of the internal organs. These images are stored in a computer and the report of the procedure is given immediately. These images can either be printed or a copy may be obtained onto a disk.

Endoscopy is usually done on the digestive and respiratory systems.

Gastroscopy/ OGD scopy / upper gastro-intestinal [GI] endoscopy is performed for evaluating the upper digestive tract. Gastroscopy is done to evaluate complaints arising in the abdomen. It can detect the reasons for heartburn, upper abdominal pain, vomiting, blood vomiting etc,. The patient must stay empty stomach for about 5-6 hours, the internal lining of the oesophagus (food pipe), stomach, and duodenum (initial part of the small intestine) are analysed in this process.

Colonoscopy/ lower GI endoscopy is the evaluation of large intestine (also called as colon). Colonoscopy is carried out to detect the reasons of complaints like constipation, diarrhoea, blood motions, lower abdominal pain, etc,. Besides these, it can also help in screening patients who are at risk at developing diseases in the large intestine (also called as colon). The procedure requires an intake of liquid solution on the previous night to empty the large intestine of stools.

ERCP (Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangio-Pancreatography):

This highly advanced endoscopic procedure is done for the diagnoses and treatment of diseases of the bile duct and pancreas. The most common complaints for which this test is performed jaundice.

Bronchoscopy – is the endoscopy done for respiratory complaints.
